Just read the post and thought I would give you and update here as an (mt) employee.

We are going to address the "memory leak" that occurs when removing a running app via 'mtr'. The plan is to simply throw an error say that you can't remove a running app and that you need to stop it first.

We are also looking allowing you to create additional mongrel instances inside your container to provide a more robust solution.

Hi Mike

It's cool that you guys are running out to get customer's opinion on the new offerings... In my opinion, I think having the ability to scale with multiple mongrel instances wull be a big determining factor to developers to take on the gs trying to take their app to the next level.

I signed up for an mt grid with the 256 container and so far, so good. But with a single mongrel instance I dont' think it is going to be acceptable for very long. I hope they add mongrel_cluster support soon.

Thanks for the insite, I'm an MT customer and I'm teaching myself Rails and Ruby. Are there any guides for adapting tutorials, such as the Agile Web Development with Rails book from Pragmatic, to MT's environment? I get errors that the book doesn't mention. Sorry for the n00b question. :)

What's the latest on the 'multiple Mongrel instances per Grid Server' story? I'm super keen on trying out Media Temple, as I'm currently on Dreamhost and the load time is noticeably slower than Media Temple hosted sites.

As far as official news from MT's site, I have not see anything on that.. if they really released the ability to cluster Mongrel on the Grid, it will be an EngineYard killer! .. definitely awesome!
