Salary Research Segment needs to work harder.

Are we missing in action? Most definitely not. We are busy coding and gimping away to get ourselves ready for the private alpha. As far as I can say, we have nailed out a barebone layout that we will be using for alpha and public beta launch. Things are moving along and definitely getting pretty exciting too.
We just convinced ourselves that the current salary research sites “sucks”, ok we do not want to talk negatively about our competitors. Let’s just say, “They could have done much better in relative to other sectors within the internet segment or even the job search segment”. So here’s some findings from major job sites.
Two major sites that are serving the salary research market are Salary.com and Payscale.com. Jobster and Simplyhired are using payscale.com as a third party info provider. Monster.com is using Salary.com as their main salary research partner.
First of all, why it takes me 10 steps to get to the information that I was looking for is a total put off on the user experience of these sites. And all the steps that you drill through is all in part of them trying to mine your job profile/information and thus feed their “user generated” database. Now here comes the best part, at the end of these endless clicking… I end up with a basic report that
1) does not answer the question I have in mind- am I being compensated in par with the rest of the world.
2) I have to pay “quite a sum of money” in my opinion.. around the range of $40 - $50 for a “full report”
Hey… you just ripped me off by mining my data .. and now you are asking me to pay you some more money ……. go figure.. which is why at this time of great innovation - this sector seems to be sleeping or silently harvesting a small gold mine hoping no one will spoil the game for them. So we think to ourselves, this is definitely a market that’s underserve right now and there you have it - Payscroll.com is conceived. Payscroll makes job searching fun, makes pay scouting exciting…. and “non-technical”, and of course in the web 2.0 world, we need to make pay researching a socially delightful experience.
